UAA volleyball players Floyd and Stephens earn first-team All-America honors

University of Alaska Anchorage senior volleyball players Eve Stephens and Ellen Floyd were named first-team All-America on Wednesday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Stephens, an outside hitter from Palmer, was named Great Northwest Athletic Conference player of the year and Division II West Region player of the year. Her offensive rates put her near the top of Division II in multiple categories. She finished second in the nation with 5.78 points per set and third with 4.75 kills per set.

In leading UAA to the GNAC title, Stephens was named conference player of the week seven times and received AVCA national player of the week honors twice. She finished her career as the GNAC and UAA leader in kills with 1,926.

Floyd, a setter from Pensacola, Florida, was an honorable mention All-American in 2019. She was also a three-time all-GNAC first team award winner.

Floyd earned both GNAC offensive and defensive player-of-the-week awards this season, leading the Seawolves to a 27-3 mark.

She has the all-time mark for aces both at UAA and in the GNAC with 213 and is the UAA all-time assists leader with 4,773.

The Seawolves have had two other AVCA first-team performers in the program’s history, Julia Mackey in 2015 and Morgan Hooe in 2016.
