Some exciting news out of the Dragons camp on Monday as it was announced that Carter Belitski has committed to play for the University of Alaska Anchorage next season.
In an official release by the Drumheller Dragons, the team shared that Belitski has secured a Division 1 scholarship for the Anchorage Seawolves for the fall of 2022. The Seawolves have been reinstated to Division 1 hockey and will begin play in the 2022-2023 season.
Belitski is in his third and final year as a Drumheller Dragon. Over the course of the past three seasons, he has played 93 games, contributing 59 points. This year, the Regina, Saskatchewan, native is averaging over a point per game with 36 points in 31 games.
“Carter has been an instrumental leader with the team over the course of his junior career,” shares Dragons Head Coach and General Manager Kevin Hasselberg. “From the time he played his first game he has instilled a level of competitiveness in the identity of the team that makes the Dragons a difficult team to play. His standards are extremely high, and he expects a lot out of himself and his teammates. Our program is better today because Carter has helped shape the culture and strengthen our dressing room.”
Congratulations to Carter Belitski and his entire family. You can catch Belitski and the rest of the Dragons at home Friday night as they take on the Okotoks Oilers at 7 PM.
