An independent researcher and journalist from Moscow has written a Twitter thread explaining why Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine isn't going as well as he anticipated.

Kamil Galeev is the former  Galina Starovoitova Fellow on Human Rights and Conflict Resolution at the Wilson Center, which is a Washington, D.C.-based think tank named after former U.S. president Woodrow Wilson.

The Wilson Center houses the Kennan Institute, which has an office in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. The Kennan Institute was founded in 1974 to study what was then the Soviet Union.

According to Galeev's brief biography on the think tank's website, he's also a political activist who was briefly jailed for participating in 2020 protests.

"Galeev completed a Master’s in Economics and Management at Peking University China and then an MLitt in History at St Andrews, the UK," the biography states.
