Learn about Alaska's rock, minerals and energy resources and how to teach about them in the classroom!
About this Event

This training will provide you with tools to teach students about Alaska's rocks, minerals, and energy resources through interactive curriculum and hands-on activities!

Please note that this training is for educators in Juneau.

During this course you will receive:

  • One 500-level UA Graduate Credit (may be eligible for lane change & re-certification requirements)
  • Alaska Standards-based curriculum with fun, hands on activities for grades K-8 (adaptable for grades 9-12)
  • One Alaska resources kit that includes: a set of 40 Alaskan Rocks and Minerals, posters and books for the classroom, mineral testing kit and much, much more!

Schedule:

  • September 15 and 16 from 4:00-7:00pm
  • September 17 from 9am-3pm. We will be touring Kensington Mine (details to come!)
  • There will be 3 hours of self-directed work to be done by each attendee.
