With Elon Musk taking over Twitter with his successful buy out of USD 44 Billion, the now ‘Chief Twit’ has allegedly fired Twitter CEO Parag Agarwal hours after taking charge. However, multiple reports have suggested that despite the firing of the CEO, he is expected to receive USD $42 million as compensation.
Parag Agarwal took over as the Chief Executive Officer of Twitter in 2021 after founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey unexpectedly resigned. Before his appointment as CEO, Agarwal worked at the social media platform as the Chief Technical Officer.

Parag Agarwal Salary as Twitter CEO

During his promotion from CTO to CEO, as per reports, Agarwal received a compensation worth more than $30.3 million. Apart from what the former CEO earned from his Twitter shares in the stock market, reports have suggested that Parag earned $1 million per annum.
Reports suggest that Agarwal awarded an annual compensation of $1 million as well as the stock compensation worth $12.5 million during his tenure as the Twitter CEO.

With his exit from Twitter after Elon Musk's takeover today, October 27, 2022, reports have suggested that compensation amount for Parag Agarwal is expected to be in the range of USD $42 million to USD $56 million.
Following the takeover by Elon Musk, the fired employees – Parag Agarwal, Ned Segal, Sean Edgett, Sarah Personette and Vijaya Gadda are covered by the ‘golden parachute clause’ signed between Twitter and Musk's X Holdings. As per reports, Agarwal will receive the highest payout, followed by Segal at USD $25.4 million, Gadde at USD $12.5 million and Personette at USD $11.2 million.
