Home / This will be the new harbour bath in the park Jubileumsparken
2 November 2022

Just in time for Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary celebration in June 2023, the new harbour bath at Kvillepiren in Frihamnen will be ready.

The swimming facility will consist of a longer pool for swimming training, a swimming pool (currently the “Public Bath”) with a slide, a jumping and diving pool and an area with showers and sun decks. Around the pools there will be wooden decks to walk on and piers that connect the pool with Jubileumsparken on land.

In the spiral ramp in the jumping and diving pool, there are jumping ledges at three different heights.

In the swimming pool as well as in the diving pool, there will be salt water pumped up from the salt water wedge in the river Göta Älv.

The new pools are built on pontoons that are currently being manufactured by a subcontractor on the east coast. By the end of the year, the pools will arrive in Gothenburg and Jubileumsparken. Construction then continues on site in Frihamnen.

Around 500 people will be able to stay at the swimming facility at the same time.

Jubileumsparken is a result of wishes from citizens of Gothenburg for green areas and to get closer to the water for Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary and for the construction of Älvstaden. The excursion playground, which opened in August 2022, is the first permanent part built in Jubileumsparken. In June 2023, the new harbor bath will also be ready and inaugurated just in time for Gothenburg’s 400th Anniversary Celebration.
