CMT Premiere: Ian Flanigan Celebrates Campfires and Backroads in New Video "Under A Southern Sky"

Ian Flanigan: "I hope (people) feel good every time they hear 'Under a Southern Sky.'"

Country music fans first met Ian Flanigan when he was Team Blake on "The Voice." He finished third on the show and later collaborated with Shelton. Now he's back, his husky voice gliding across the lyrics of his song "Under A Southern Sky." And he stars in the music video, which is out today.

Jessi Alexander, Jon Randall and Jonathan Singleton wrote the song and Justin Mayotte directed the video, which Flanigan said brings "Under a Southern Sky" to life "by capturing the small, hometown nights in a big way."

"Celebrating campfires, backroads, and good times are what it's all about," he said.

Flanigan's favorite scene in the video comes when they're lighting a lantern and launching it into the sky.

"We originally had a dozen to light, but the wind was so bad we could only get one on camera," he said. "The others took off into the woods. No trees were harmed! But that was a funny and intense behind-the-scenes moment."

He said he's always honored to have such "talented people" on his team to help him create art.

"It's something you never get used to," he said.

The New York native is grateful for the opportunity to release "Under a Southern Sky" along with its video and hopes fans enjoy it as much as he did making it.

"I hope this video reminds country fans of the way they spend their time with their friends and family back home," he said. "I hope they feel good every time they hear 'Under a Southern Sky.'"
