Why We Choose to be Accredited

School accreditation is the result of a voluntary, yet critical process. During this process, Fusion Academy campuses examine and assess themselves against rigorous high standards (set by the accrediting agency). At the end of each accreditation term, each campus is visited by accreditation committees who affirm that they are meeting these standards and have a well-developed plan for the school’s future improvement opportunities. In many countries around the world, accreditation is handled by a government entity, however, in the USA, accreditation is managed by several non-profit agencies organized by region. Each accreditation process is unique to the commission that it is affiliated with.

Why is Accreditation at Fusion Academy Important?

Accreditation ensures that our schools are operating with the highest level of educational quality and integrity, as validated by an external accrediting agency. When a Fusion campus is accredited, it shows our students and their families they can trust the educational program that our school provides – which has been measured against and meets high-quality standards. At Fusion Academy, our accreditation validates our unique approach to our education model, enabling a smooth transition for students seeking educational opportunities after their time at Fusion.

Who does the Accrediting?

National Accreditation

Fusion has a School System Accreditation with Cognia (formerly AdvancED), which includes NCA CASI (North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement), SACS CASI (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement), and NWAC (Northwest Accreditation Commission). When Fusion opens a new campus, the campus is a “Candidate for accreditation” under Cognia. However, our School System Accreditation status with Cognia provides a pathway for these campuses to be fully accredited within a few months.

Regional Accreditation

Regionally, Fusion campuses may be accredited by one or more accrediting commissions.  Fusion works closely with each regional accrediting agency, which includes: ACS – WASC (Accrediting Commission for Schools – Western Association of Schools and Colleges), MSA-CESS (Middle States Association of Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools), and NEASC* (New England Association of Schools and Colleges). Please visit each campus location on our website to see specific accreditation details.

*Burlington, Greenwich, Fairfield, and Newton campuses only.

A Note from the 2019 Cognia Review on Fusion Academy

“The team learned that Fusion’s success begins with the core belief that each student is unique and that students learn best when they feel safe, cared for, engaged, and confident. These beliefs are summarized in an important guiding approach to all interactions with students, ‘Love, Motivate, and Teach.’

Leaders have devoted significant efforts to the planning and implementation of intentional, purposeful processes to address the individualized needs of learners within a changing and complex world. Fusion is committed to success for every student by providing ‘celebrity experiences’ to honor their individual academic, social, and emotional goals.”
