GREENFIELD FARM PRECIS

Greenfield Farm Writers Residency, projected to open in early 2026, will be a new front porch for the Deep South, the first significant infrastructure investment our nation makes to grow and nurture the difference-bridging power of Mississippi stories to make positive American change.

15 miles east of Oxford on the road to William Faulkner’s birthplace of New Albany, Greenfield Farm is 20.4-acre parcel owned by the University of Mississippi. Faulkner once owned this land. Farmers raised mules here and grew crops. UM is turning Greenfield into a retreat-style writer’s residency, paying tribute to the historical uses of the land and the rich literary legacy of Mississippi.
