Whether by way of Oakland, Los Angeles, or Las Vegas, the legacy and mystique of the Raiders has long centered around their standing as the designated "villain" of the National Football League. It's what influenced nicknames such as "The Black Hole" at the old Oakland Coliseum and the new "Death Star" of Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Its also influencing the proposed new home of the Silver & Black's second generation owner.

According to a report by Eli Segall of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis is building a new mansion on the six acres of land he owns in the Ascaya luxury community located in Henderson, Nev. The three-story home is set to feature Raiders colors and rely heavily on symmetry, rising to a peak in the middle where the top floor resembles the bridge of a ship.

Like the "Death Star," a conceptual rendering of Davis' home makes it look like the base of a sci-fi villain, keeping in line with the Darth Vader aesthetic that the Raiders and their fans have become so fond of.

Among the home's proposed features, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, are a "man cave," prep kitchen and bar, a steam room, a library, a pool, a porte-cochere and an area for guest and vendor parking. The building permit application has the home spanning 15,000 square feet (with a 5,422-square-foot garage area), and is valued at approximately $14 million.

Mark Davis is entering a full decade as owner of the Raiders, a position he assumed in 2011 following the death of his father, Raiders founding owner and notorious pro football renegade Al Davis. As the Raiders enter their second season in Sin City, Davis is still looking to oversee the sort of Raiders team that resembles the franchise's glory days of the 1970s and 1980s. The Raiders have made the playoffs just once since 2002, when they finished with a 12-4 record in 2016 before being a Wild Card loss following an injury to quarterback Derek Carr.
