About this event

iSH is delighted to invite students to join Space Explorers on Wednesday the 28th of June for primary schools pupils in years 5 and 6. The hour and a half interactive sessions will include a series of hands-on sessions to inspire and enthuse for future careers in space.

Tim Gregory from NNL, BBC Bitesize, The Sky at Night, will share thoughts about the wonder of space and the universe, how it relates to our everyday lives, and why space is an exciting career.

The event is completely free and transportation costs will be covered for attendance*

There will be 3 sessions across the day, with a capacity of 75 participants for each session, at the following times:

9.30 – 11.00 Session 1

11.00 – 12.30 Session 2

13.00 – 14.30 Session 3

Each session will include a 15 minutes presentation and 15-minute Q&A on the theme of Space. Then pupils, in groups of up to 15, will then visit up to 4 different ‘space stations’ including:

• Meet Spot the Dog: Robotics In Space

• How to Power a Space Battery in West Cumbria

• The Sky at Night: Mobile planetarium and meet the astronomer (30-minute live shows)

• How to Make a Rocket Work (outdoors)

Schools groups are invited to book on a first come first served basis via this link. Please book the number of tickets for the number of pupils attending. If you have any questions about the day you can contact us at info@ishco.co.uk

The event is being held in the SEN centre at Lakes College, Lillyhall Business Park, Hallwood Rd, Workington CA14 4JN
